If you're looking for a scribe, a wordsmith, or an editor, I'm not the best person for you to work with.

But if you're looking for a consultant who will challenge you to question assumptions, and who will revise a document until it says just what you want to say, then let's talk!

WHAT IT'S LIKE TO WORK WITH ME

Working with me is a collaborative, iterative process. 

My role is to empower you to express your message in the way that will be most persuasive to your target audience. Since you're the expert on your mission and your audience, I need input from you to do my job well. 

Here's how you can expect a typical authoring project to unfold:

Live strategy session—Depending on the scope of the project, this could be one to three hours long.

 

Touchstone document—This captures the insights from the strategy session, summarizing key assumptions, strategic goals for the communication, and key pieces of content to be developed. The document becomes our guide as the project evolves.

 

Five-minute feedback—Before I begin drafting, I may ask you for some quick reactions to headlines or other key parts of the messaging. You’ll provide feedback via an online survey form.

 

First draft (skeleton)—This first draft does not include any graphic design, just design notes suggesting possible visual treatments.

Second draft (complete)—This second draft includes graphic design, done either by one of my associates or your in-house designer.

Audience testing—This step is not essential, but I always recommend it. The only way you’ll really know whether your communication will resonate with your target audience is to test it out.

Third draft (final).

Final edits.

By the end of this collaborative process, you should be feeling great about what we’ve created together, both the messaging and the design. If you’re not, then you may want to consider additional revisions (though at this point, we may also need to chat about project scope and consider additional fees).
